A last minute story

Hey guys!
Welcome back to the bloggg!
I told you guys I’m being consistent, and I was being for real!
Today's blog is something I haven’t really covered before but is a part of what I do—JOURNALISM.
A last-minute story…
Do your work on time.
Seriously.
It’s like being a university student automatically comes with handing assignments in last minute. Even when I know about them months or weeks ahead, somehow, I still end up scrambling at the last second.
But this needs to change ASAP. The stress that comes with submitting work at the last hour? Sickening. But funny enough, this last-minute story introduced me to a side of journalism that I’m definitely going to have to get used to.
So, my assignment was to create a video feature at the standard of East Midlands BBC. No pressure, right?
I remember sitting there, completely blank. No story. No ideas. Nothing. And my mind was racing—how am I supposed to find a story in Leicester? No offense, but this place can be quiet, and there’s not always much happening.
But I guess that’s where my investigative skills had to kick in.
I really had to sit down and think, "What could I possibly do a story on?" Until I stumbled across an exhibition happening at Leicester Museums & Galleries—Popping to the Shops: Saffron Lane.
I thank God this story literally fell into my lap, because otherwise? I would’ve been cooked loool. And I’m someone who always submits their assignments, so I wasn’t about to stop now.
Just like that, I started working on this feature, making sure to set up interviews. One thing I love about journalism is discovering new stories and interviewing people, so this feature was right up my alley.
I had the opportunity to interview some amazing people, and you can watch it here:
Let me know what you guys think about my last-minute story!
Hopefully, there will be no more last-minute stories in the future, and I can actually work on my time management.
If you’re a university student and you’re reading this, please start that assignment. Revise for that exam. I know it’s a month away, but trust me, it’ll hit you like a bus if you don’t start now.
Anyways, let me stop being dramatic.
