Hey guys,
Welcome back to the bloggg!
It’s been a MINUTE. Actually… disrespectfully long. Like five whole months. But please, I’m going to need you guys to extend me some grace because a lot has happened since we last spoke. And when I say a lot, I mean BIG CHANGES.
So, where do I even start?
Well… your girl moved across the world. Yep. I packed up my life — family, friends, university, everything I knew — and I’m now living in the States. All the way in Michigan, in a little town called Allendale. Crazy, right?
I’ve been here since the 15th of August and honestly, what a ride it’s been so far. The culture shock? INSANE. Everything is different here — the food, the school system, the people.
But you know what? It’s a good different. I was so worried before moving, but everyone here has been so kind (and they’re obsessed with the British accent 😅). I’ve literally been told to “just keep talking” because they love hearing my voice.
I’m here studying Journalism with a focus on radio and broadcasting, and I’ve also been dabbling in Film and Advertising & Public Relations. One thing I find so cool is how their system works — you don’t just do one degree; you’ve got majors and minors. So you could study Business as your major and then add Spanish, Art, or whatever you like as your minor. I love how flexible it is.
But let’s be real for a sec. The homework here? Outrageous. I don’t think I’ve ever received this much work in my life. One week I had 7 different assignments from 5 different classes. And while your girl is tired, it has been sharpening me. My reading has gone up massively, and I feel like I’m growing so much in my field already.
Now let’s talk about food 👀. First of all, the sugar situation here? Out of control. It’s literally in EVERYTHING. I even had a crazy breakout at first, but we thank God for healing skin.
On the bright side, I did try Chick-Fil-A for the first time when I stopped in New York before moving here, and then again in Michigan, and wow… I get the hype. So good. There’s still so many places I need to try though — I’m planning a food tour around town soon.
Life at Grand Valley State University has also been non-stop. They’ve got events upon events and honestly, I can’t keep up. But I love the community vibe here. It makes settling in so much easier.
And the most exciting part? I started my very first radio show in week three! It’s been a learning curve, but I absolutely LOVE it. Radio rebel who?

Stay tuned because as soon as I’ve got the hang of it, I’ll let you know how to tune in.
For now, you can keep up with me on socials where I’m documenting this whole journey:

So yeah… your girl’s officially living her American chapter. I can’t wait to share more of it with you all.
Until next time,
Love always,
Preshh 💕
